Who is walt campbell?
Walt Campbell, affectionately known throughout Michigan as Mr. United Way, was born in Manistee, Michigan, where his journey of service and dedication to community began. A proud member of AIW Local 404, Walt's commitment to labor advocacy and community welfare was ingrained in his character from an early age. His illustrious career saw him ascend to the role of Secretary-Treasurer of the Michigan AFL-CIO, where he became a stalwart champion for workers' rights and social justice. Walt's leadership extended beyond the confines of traditional labor roles; he chaired both the Michigan AFL-CIO Community Services Department and the Michigan United Labor Community Services Committee, tirelessly advocating for the marginalized and underserved.
Moreover, Walt Campbell's legacy of compassion and service reverberates through his extensive involvement in humanitarian endeavors. He became the inaugural labor chair of the Capitol Area United Way campaign, pioneering initiatives that transformed countless lives. Walt's altruism knew no bounds as he dedicated himself to causes like the Greater Lansing Food Bank, serving as both a board member and President. Additionally, he chaired Catholic Charities for the Diocese in Lansing, embodying the principles of empathy and solidarity.
